iii iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
999

,.
L-„ _
,,_
September 7, 1995
Mr. Wallace H. Erickson
Environmental Protection Specialist
Division of Minerals and Geology
1474 Main Ave.. Room 207
Durango, Co. 81301
Re: Weber Pit No. 2 Permit Application
File No. M-95-056
Dear Mr. Erickson:
Received
SEP 0 8 1995
Durango Field Office
Division of Minerals S Geology
After reviewing the comment letter from the Colorado Division of Wildlife, the
following responses are presented.
Mining and Reclamation Plans
1. Reclamation will be on-going whenever possible and feasible. We do not expect to
ever have more than ten to twenty acres of disturbance at any one time. However, we do
not feel that the DOWs recommendations of two to three acres of disturbance is
reasonable or feasible considering the terrain of the proposed pit and the lay out of our
operation.
2. As per their recommendation and as defined in our reclamation plan, the slopes
will be left at a 3:1 grade.
3. As per our reclamation plan, the site will be revegetated with native grasses and
fortis suitable for grazing which is our ultimate goal. Noxious weeds are not a major
concern for us because I already engage in my own noxious weed control program for the
entire ranch. Sothis is just normal care and procedure to me.
4. In regard to mining activity during the winter months, we aze willing to abide by
the DOWs recommendation to a degree. However, if the weather is permissible and
circumstances exist where we have a need or a demand for gravel, we will on occasion,
crush for more than four (4) hours per day. But we will not be crushing on a daily basis
for more than the DOWs recommended four (4) hours per day during the hours of 10
A.M. to 2 P.M.
