I have summari2ed below the information you provided me regarding
this quarry operation:
1) The quarry has been in operation since about 1900 and was operated by PIr.
and Mrs. Weaver from about 1939 until about 1975. It was operated by others
from that time until you purchased the property in 1981. You have owned and
operated the quarry since 1981.
2) Since 1981, you have operated the quarry in a limited manner, i.e., it has
not been a full time, year-around quarry. Approximately 500 to 600 tons per
year of material is extracted from the site, and the actual quarry activity
occurs no more than 90 days per year. The main purpose for the quarry is to
provide stone on an irregular basis, when this type of stone cannot he provided
by other quarries.
3) No blasting will occur on the site.
4) The total surface acreage affected by the quarry is approximately 3 acres.
Statements made by area residents in hearings on other quarries supports your
claim that this quarry has been in operation for many years. Additionally,
Al Xadera of the Planning Department wrote to the State n!ined Land Reclamation
Division on October 13, 1981, that the quarry was a legal, non-conforming use.
If the information included in this letter is correct, and if you agree that
the quarry will continue to be operated in accordance with this letter, please
` a~MkA Cpppi
~~~
~~$
7
