III IIIIIIIIIIIII III Doc Date:12/11/2001
S~- 2.03.8 PERMIT TERM INFORMATION
The Meadows No. 1 mine was a surface operation producing coal from
the Pinnacle seam. Mining operations were terminated in February 1981,
and Permit C-029-81 was issued August 1983 for reclamation only. The
reclaimed Meadows No. 1 mine was backfilled and graded in the fall of 1983
and seeded in the spring of 1984. The term of the reclamation permit
extends to 1988 with amid-term review in 1985-1986. The permit will be
renewed for successive five-year terms until bond liability is terminated by
CMLRD.
The Mined Land Reclamation Board approved a decommissioning
technical haul road revision in a public hearing July 26, 1984. The Meadows
No. 1 haul road has been decommissioned from coal hauling to industrial
and ranch use.
Sun Coal Company completed haul road decommissioning activities in
the spring of 1985 and conducted routine road maintenance in 1986.
Maintenance activities included repairing water bars, cleaning ditches, and
stabilizing small slide areas.
Erosion control is the only planned reclamation activity during the new
permit term. With the increased vegetation on site there is less erosion
each year. The landowner has requested all existing facilities be left as is
and Sun Coal has agreed.
-42-
• (Rev. 7/93)
