RULE 2 PERMITS <br />• 2.01 PERMITS-GENERAL REQUIREMENTS <br />2.01.1 Scooe <br />This Section establishes the minimum general requirements for permits required for surface <br />coal mining operations. The objective of this Rule is to insure that all surface coal mining <br />operations file applications for permits in a timely manner, and that all such operations are <br />conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act and the rules and regulations promulgated pursuant thereto. <br />2.01.2 General Requirements for Existing Operations <br />In accordance with the requirements of this part, Kaiser Steel Resources hereby submits this <br />permit document for review and consideration. The document addresses all applicable <br />provisions of Rules 2, 3, and 4 for the purpose of being deemed appropriate and adequate <br />as filed for the reclamation phases of this project, except as noted in this part. <br />2.01.3 General Requirements for Permits for All Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation <br />Operations <br />In keeping with the requirements stated herein, Kaiser Steel Resources has compiled and <br />• . submitted this application. <br />2.01.4 Permit Requirements for New Surface Coal Mining and Reclamation Operations <br />The Chimney Rock Mine has been an ongoing surface mining operation since November 3, <br />1976. Numerous permit applications and revisions have been submitted since that time in <br />order to expand the operations. This permit document is submitted as a summary, <br />incorporating all revisions and modiications to the permit. This document also emphasizes <br />the reclamation requirements for the mine, since all mining operations have ceased. <br />2.01.5 Permit Term <br />At this time, Kaiser is requesting no modifications to the existing five year permit term. <br />Section 2.03.8 describes the necessary permit term information. <br />2.01.6 Permit Fees <br />Submittal of this document is in response to the mid-term review and revised operations and <br />reclamation plans. As a result, no permit fees are associated with this submittal. <br />• 2.01-1 <br />
