• Carlc and Sons Ranch
The Earle and Sons Ranch includes 64 acres of marginally subirrigated bottomland on Fisli
Creek. This acreage compares with a total rangeland base (deeded and leased) for the Earle and
Sons Rancll of 14,300 acres (Leon Earle, personal communication, November, 1981). Based on
acreage's alone, flee small amount of marginally subirrigated bottomland along Fisli Creek does
not provide a significant amount of range production for the Earle ranch.
Asl~ley Ranch
the Ashley Ranch utilizes approximately 37 acres of the marginally subirrigated Fish Creek AVF
in the study area.
SECTION VI
CONCLUSIONS

•
In summary, this alluvial valley floor (AVF) study for the proposed Fislt Creek Mine has
identified that Fish Creek is an alluvial valley floor under the rules and regulations of the
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board and Office of Surface Mining AVF identification and
Study Guidelines. Tliis determination has been made based upon geomorphic and water
availability cliaracteris[ics and agricultural practices.
The significance of the identified AVF's to farms in the area has been assessed, and certain areas
leave been concluded to be significant to framing. Specifically, the lower Fish Creek hay
meadow is considered to be significant to the production of tVte CYCC ranch.
,~~ a• :w~a_..:~ JJiJ 2. 8 2008
I:environ\Iracy\document/EzliibTA II 01/IG/98
