1
' The location of these two monitoring wells are noted on
Map A.
' Preoperational monitoring to establish the baseline
ground water conditions which existed prior to the onset
of milling activities has been accomplished. On March
' 25, 1987, Gold Hill Ventures' staff obtained water
samples from the four wells that will be used to monitor
the amount and quality of the ground water in this part
' of the permit area. The attached Reports of Analysis
from Hazen Research, Inc. , of Golden, Colorado, includes
total dissolved solids, and laboratory parameters of
sulfate, iron, copper, lead, zinc, silver, mercury,
' arsenic, and cadmium. The field parameters that Gold
Hill Ventures obtained of the water level, pH, and
temperature for the four monitoring wells are noted on
' each Report of Analysis.
Operational monitoring will be conducted during the
' life of the milling project on a quarterly basis, unless
it can be demonstrated that potential ground water
contaminants are not migrating downgradient from the
tailings impoundment area. Two samples of the mill
' tailings were analyzed and the results submitted to the
Mined Land Reclamation Division during the first year of
milling operations. If the type of flotation reagents
' are changed during the life of the project, additional
mill tailings samples will be analyzed and the results
forwarded to the Mined Land Reclamation Division for
' comparison with the water samples from the monitoring
wells. Mill operators will sample the mill tailings
water for the following parameters: field parameters of
pH, temperature, electroconductivity or total dissolved
' solids; and laboratory parameters of sulfate, iron,
copper, lead, zinc, silver, mercury, arsenic, cadmium,
xanthate concentrations, and any other mill chemicals
' used in our processing facility.
The U. S. Bureau of Mines test well located closest
to the Cash mine access road was selected for the
' purpose of monitoring the ground water level and
chemistry of the water that will be stored in the Hazel
A. edit. The preoperational water sample obtained on
' March 25, 1987, defined the baseline conditions which
exist in this area prior to storing any decanted mill
water in the Hazel A. adit.
' 15. There is a pre-existing permanent diversion ditch
that is being used to protect the tailings pond from
water runoff from the precipitation catchment area above
' the tailings impoundment structure. This water runoff
diversion ditch was constructed according to the design
submitted to Gold Hill Ventures by Ted Zorich and
' Associates, Inc. , of Englewood, Colorado.
