Will C~1,
any drainage channel be affected by this operation? ~~
Exhibit E -Reclamation Plan
1. The mining plan specifies highwalls will be ten to fifteen feet in
height. This reclamation plan specifies slopes of 3h:ly. Are the slopes
referenced in this exhibit the highwalls referenced in Exhibit B? (If not,
the Division believes the highwalls should also be sloped to no steeper than
3h:ly since there is no reason to have them remain after final reclamation.)
2. What is the material below your ten to fifteen foot mining area? /1 O G ~~
3. How much topsoil will be placed over the reclaimed area (in inches)?
The Division is concerned about water holding capacity of the soil and being
able to sustain the planted vegetation over an extended period of time. If
minimal amount of topsoil is to be put back over the reclaimed areas, the
operator should consider ripping the underlying material. 8 i~
4. Why does the landowner want the two wheatgrass and the Timothy grass
species referenced in Mr. Hill's letter of June 17, 1983? The Division is
concerned since the Minerals Law (C.R.S. 34-32-101 et se .) specifies native
plants shall be emphasized. The seed mixture suggeste~y Mr. Hill includes
two introduced and one native species. We suggest the following seed mixture
which emphasizes native species and utilizes species referenced in the
soils/vegetation report of Exhibit D.. ~'1~- ~`'2•~~~-~- Y~ ~-~~~
Species ounds Pure Live See j
Per Acre - Drill Rate*
Western Wheatgrass 3.5
Bluebunch Wheatgrass 3.0
Green Needlegrass 2.5
Indian Ricegrass 2.0
Lewis Flax 1.0
12.0
*Rate should be doubled for broadcasting purposes.
5.
