Co., Inc. <br />Limited Impact Permit Appl. <br />Exhibit "D" -Soils Attachment <br />Otero series <br />The Otero series consists of deep, somewhat <br />excessively drained soils on uplands. These soils formed <br />in eolian and alluvial material. Slope is 1 to 12 percent. <br />The average annual precipitation is 11 to 15 inches, and <br />the average annual air temperature is 48 to 54 degrees <br />F. <br />These soils are coarse-loamy, mixed (calcareous), <br />mesic Ustic Torriorthents. <br />Typical pedon of Otero sandy loam, 1 to 9 percent <br />slopes, 250 feet east and 1,300 feet north of the <br />southwest corner of sec. 2, T. 28 S., R. 64 W. <br />Al-0 to 7 inches; light brownish gray (10YR 6/2) sandy <br />loam, dark grayish brown (10YR 4/2) moist; weak <br />line granular structure; soft, very friable, nonsticky <br />and nonplastic; mildly alkaline; clear smooth <br />boundary. <br />C1-7 to 20 inches; pale brown (10YR 6/3) sandy loam, <br />brown (10YR 5/3) moist; weak coarse subangular <br />blocky structure; slightly hard, very friable, nonsticky <br />and nonplastic; calcareous; moderately alkaline; <br />clear smooth boundary. <br />C2ca-20 to 60 inches; pale brown (tOYR 6/3) sandy <br />loam, brown (10YR 5/3) moist; massive; soft, very <br />friable, nonsticky and nonplastic; few fine soft <br />masses of lime; calcareous; moderately alkaline. <br />Depth to calcareous material is 0 to 10 inches. The <br />profile is 0 to 15 percent coarse fragments throughout. <br />The Al horizon is light brownish gray, grayish brown, <br />pale brown, or brown. It is sandy loam or fine sandy <br />loam and is mildly alkaline or moderately alkaline. The C <br />horizon is sandy loam or tine sandy loam. The calcium <br />carbonate equivalent ranges from less than 1 percent to <br />4 percent. <br />
