The results were used to <br />indicate dominant species in each vegetation type. <br />Dominants in the grassland type were Bouteloua racilis, <br />Artemisia frigida, Carex eleocharis, and Xanthocephalum sarothrae. <br />Dominants in the pinyon-juniper type were Pinus edulis, Juniperus <br />scopulorum, Artemisia frigida, Astragalus striatus, Astragalus flex- <br />uosus, and Townsendia eximia. • <br />} Dominants in the Ponderosa pine-Douglas fir-oak type were <br />Pinus ponderosa, Pseudotsuga menziesii, Quercus ambelii, Carex spp., <br />Bouteloua curtipendula, Danthonia arr i, and perennial forbs. <br />Dominants in the Ponderosa pine-oak type vrere Pinus ponderosa, Pinus <br />edulis, Quercus gambelii, Danthonia ap rryi, Carex sp., perennial <br />forbs, Thalictrum fendleri, and Bouteloua curtipendula. Dominants in <br />the vrilloo-r carr type vrere Salix exigua, Artemisia dracunculus, Linaria <br />vulgaris, Carex and Juncus spp., and Cirsium vul9are. <br />In all cases, tfie dominants clearly reflected the true charac- <br />__~•is'ics of .. ee.a*_io~ t7^es.
