1
interspersed throughout these valleys as shown on Map 7.
' (Although the OSM AVF Guidelines are not completely clear on
the disposition of alluvial fans relative to AVF
qualification, the preamble to the guidelines appears to
' lean toward inclusion of alluvial fans if they are
hydrologically and agriculturally integrated with AVFs
' associated with stream terraces; this would seem to be the
case with the mudflow fans of the Ward Creek and Williams
Creek valleys.)
' 2. The stream channels and valleys in the area of Ward
and Williams Creeks (as shown on Map 7) exceed the minimum
' size criteria given above.
3. As depicted on Map 7, the unconsolidated materials
' along Ward Creek and Williams Creek are quite contiguous and
' therefore the minimum acreage criteria for isolated valley
areas is not applicable.
' Sufficient Availability of Water. The Colorado
Regulations and the OSM AVF Guidelines specify that
sufficient water must be available to support agricultural
activities as evidenced by:
a. The existence of flood irrigation or its historical
' use;
b. The capability of the area to be flood irrigated
' based on streamflow, soils, water quality, and topography;
or
1
92
