Area Time for Mining
Mining Phase Acres Years
10 5.87 1
11 4.92 l
12 5.35 1
13 1 3.66 l
TOTAL 1 83.97 13.5
It is anticipated that the majority of the overburden from all phases will be placed back in the
mined out pit for side sloping and shaping of the shoreline. Throughout the life of the operation,
inert fill from on-site and off-site sources will be used for reclamation. As illustrated on the Pre-
Mining/Mining Plan Map (Exhibit Q, mining will generally be conducted from the northwest to
the southeast.
Mining Methods
The deposit will be dry mined using dewatering trenches and pumps. Dewatering trenches along
the perimeter of the mining area will be used to dewater the deposit prior to mining below the
water table. Pumps will be used to remove the water that drains from the deposit and surrounding
alluvium into the trench. If necessary, water from the trenches will be circulated through a
settling basin prior to it being discharged to irrigation ditches or the Yampa River.
When the alluvium is sufficiently dewatered, the aggregate material will be recovered using
equipment and facilities typical for sand and gravel mining operations. The equipment and
facilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Processing Equipment
Portable crushing and screening plant
Concrete plant (this plant will be relocated from the nearby North Pit) with accessory office,
storage, and employee rooms
Asphalt plant (this plant will be relocated from the nearby North Pit) with accessory office,
storage, and employee rooms
Portable wash plant
Earth Moving Equipment
Dozers, loaders, scrapers, excavators, and compactors will be used for mining and earth
moving operations. Field conveyors and off-road haul trucks will be used as needed for
mining operations.
Miscellaneous
An employee/storage trailer, office/scale house, maintenance shop, and fueling/lubricating
station will be located on-site. Dewatering pumps and generators and watering trucks will be
used as needed. An area for outdoor storage will be located near the concrete plant.
As mining progresses, topsoil and overburden will be stripped with scrapers to expose the
aggregate product below. All soil and overburden material will be used on-site for reclamation;
River Valley Resource
DMG 112 Perma
Page 5
