Gunnison Mine project area map for the Mt. Gunnison mininc
and reclarrdtion plan.
These areas are indeed deep, clay loam soils. Presently,'their use is
natural meadows used for summer-.grazing of domestic livestock, deer and
elk. Th~ls is, basically, agricv~tural use.
The elevation is approximately 7700 feet. The growing season is short...
perhaps around 60 days. The areas are not irrigated. The valley floors
range in slopes from 12 to 25 per cent.
It is doubtful that agronomic agricultural development will occur.
These two areas are not suited to any of the major crops except grasses.
Proximity to local services and markets reduce the viability of agronomic
development.
'dith the land in the present ownership it is unlikely that any chance
will occur.
Sincerely yours,
L.
