File # M-99-018.My main cona:m is to the possible damage attd pollution to the
spring tl+at supplies 6 households, (including mini) wilt potable water and livestock water Drainage from
the area where the quam is located ntns down the canton onto my land where dte spring is located.
Hea+y rainfalls throughout the year and the spring nmoff causes water drainage from the area to come
down dwt carryon. T}tat will meant loose dtrt from excavation as well as gas, oil, artd other contaminants
from equipment in the area will cause pollution of dte spring. Ttte water supply holding box for dte spring
is a cement box on top of rock, so with hea+y runoff, contaminatris can get into dte box.
1 was told that they plwt on building dams to divert the water attd hold conuuninwus. They hate not done
this and have bezn excavating 6 days a week. My total wu.er right is strictly overflow from the spring.
Dams would t><arm my Hater supply. 1 have a pond below i hz spnng to collect water for livestock. I also
leave pla»s in dte near fu[ttre for using dart extra water for irrigation. Dynanri[ing could also decrease or
shut off the +vater supply for the spnng. Several years ago dynamiting in the area did exactly that to some
water supplies. Who knows where the spnng origination comes from, maybe from under the quam}• site.
Wagner Conswction said We spring is a little less drat[ % mile from Ute excavation site. No one in the
SCD office remembers measuring it. T. Wright Dickenson, our county conunissioner, said that a
seismograph creu, just driving by a spring of his shut dte flmv off. This certainly could happen to this
spnng. 1 called your office and was told d+at if d+e spring aas du»aged or flow shut off that the pemtit
would be withdrmm. What good would that do me if 1 didn't have wry potable water. We drilled 160 foot
for a well when we purchased the ranch and didn't find .u+y water. Losing the spnng would be a grcn
inconvenience as well as greatly decrease the value o(mt• I tnd. This spring is of utmost importance to me
wtd my famih~.
Thant: you very much for your pure. Please feel free to call for .my questions
~cereh,
o„~„ei.
