• information to demonstrate that these areas are of value in terms of
the agricultural significance of the area,
The premining and proposed postmining land use of the Foidel,
Middle and Fiah Creek floodplains is cropland used for hay
production. Table 14, Meadow Hay Vegetation Type, lists the total
level of production of grasses and fortis as 21.4 g/'~2, or 764
pounds per acre. The area of unconsolidated streamlaid deposits
holding streams, shown on Hap 4, Mine No. 3 Hydrology, for the
Foidel, Middle and Fiah Creek floodplains are 59.5 acres, 178.0
acres, and 238.1 acres, respectively. Thus, the productivity of
each floodplain is approximately 22.2 tone for the Foidel Creek
floodplain, 66.5 tone for the Middle Creek floodplain, and 89.0 tone
• for the Fieh Creek floodplain. Considering that the hay which is
cut from these areas is stored for winter feed, and that after the
hay is harvested the land is used for grazing, these areas could
provide significant support to production from one or more farms.
Twe and Quantity of Agricultural Activities Found in Adjacent
Alluvial Valley Floors
The type of agricultural activities encountered in the
floodplains of Foidel, Middle and Fish Creek in the proposed permit
and adjacent area are presented on Map 9, Energy Mine No. 3 Land
Uae. The onlq agricultural activity in the proposed permit and
adjacent area corresponding to the floodplains is that of meadow hay
• cropland.
2.06'35
