• ~Latement of Ylen Sor Augmentation
7'he augmentation plan utilizes two-Laramie-Fox Hills
wells with a combined average annual appropriation of
167 ac. it. to augment calls on tributary water
resulting from the consumptive use of water at the
mine location. Well 24651-F could be used to auq_ment
evaporation of poor guolity water in the pit.
Consumptive uses/depletions will be limited to
irrigation, evaporation from pits and sumps, and when
operations dictate, the removal of water from bits and
sumps by waLertruck for dust suppression. Gtherwise
ell dust suppression water needs will be derived from
the Laramie - Fox Nills aquifer wells. A totalizing
slow meter together with records of load count (3000
gallons/load) will be maintained so as to determine
depletions related to the use o3 water for dust
suppression obtained from sumps or pits. Ground
surveys on a as needed basis will be conducted to
determine the average free water surface. Maximum
annual consumptive use is estimated to be 20.2 ac.-f t.
from a combination of eva_oration and dust
suppression. T'he maximum consumptive use estimate of
20.2 ac.-f t. is based upon dust suppression needs of
• 6.0 ac.-ft. ii totally obtained Srom sumps or the
pit. Actual depletions subject to augmentation are
anticipated to range from 14.2 ac.-f t. to 20.2 ac.-f~t.
per year.
7'h ere is no known existence of injury to any owner of
or persons entitled to the use of water under a vested
water right or a decreed conditional water right.
Section ii, part A addresses historical water uses in
the area. The Division Engineer or the Water
Commissioner will direct the amount of augmentation
required to mitigate potential injury to owner or
persons entitled to the use of water. The amount of
water to be augmented in a given month when a call
exists will be determined by computing evaporation
bases on percent of annual evaporation for the month
and adding any dust suppression and irrigation
depletions not derived from the Laramie-Fox Hills
aquifer appropriation.
Any required augmentations will be pumped Srom the
Laramie-Fox Hills aquifer well(s), metered, and
delivered by pipe directly to an augmentation
structure, (Sediment Pond No. 2). ,_
• Augmentation through inf~iltretion in a given sediment
pond will not interfere with that pond's capacity to
control runoff- from a 10 year, 24 hour precipitation
event. Also, the infiltration capacity of the ponds
would be maintained through the removal of accumulated
sediment that may effect pond permeability and
ultimately successful augmentation.
,~~
