Fencing - Oae eYail break in n fence will destroy its usefulness.
Ca~aciag must be deferred for at least two years after establishment;
fence maintenance is a moat.
2. Hulching - 4Le plantit}g must be examined periodically to deteraine
if the mulching mediu~ is intact. Mulch is aometimee needed for
two or three years after planting.
3. Weed control - Preparing a site for reclamation planting also pre-
pares the site for coApeting and perhaps undesirable weed species.
Weed competition may prolong the establishment period.
4. Supplemental water - If supplemental water is used, maintenance of
the systems must be included in management.
5. Planting evaluation -Although not generally part of a post-estab-
lishmeat manageeentji~ln. all plantings should be evaluated to gain
information thst would be useful is subsequent reclamation projects.
6. Reseeding -Area rherq seeding has failed because of weed takeover,
drought, blowout, o~engraciag or any other reason will be reseeded.
'!be renovation area at~ould be disked end reeds controlled, then re-
sseded with the original seed min and mulched.
7. Proper Caacing Use - if the area is to be graced, • minimum of two
years or until the shod is well established is required. When
gracing, at leant half of the current years grorth will be left oa
the area.
8. Soil tasting - Honitoning of the soil fertility is needed to insure
that enough plant nutrients are available for stand maintenance or
improvement.
9. Fertilisation - Applie tins of fertiliser according to soil test
results will insure et~ind aintenaace.
10. Meintenencs of structural practices - Practices installed for erosion
Control sad protections of areas rill be maintained to insure proper
operation sad to extend the usefulasse of the practice.
11. Correction and control of unforeseen problems - When new problems
derelop the eitwtion vill be corrected or controlled as rapidly
as possible.
