APPEI~ffiX R <br /> <br />The regrading plan for the Somerset Mine is based on a balance between cut <br />and fill material for arses requiring reclamation. <br />'it:e following definitions or assunptians are used: <br />Cut - areas requiting re~aval to obtain the proposed post <br />mine topography. <br />Fill - arses requiring the addltion of material to obtain <br />the proposed poet nine topography. <br />Subaceas - individual areas along a cross section whirl: are <br />sinned up to obtain total cut or fill for that <br />cross section. <br />Net Cut - total of a:t subareas for a given cross section. <br />Net Fill - total aE fill subareas foc a given cross section. <br /> <br />Fill Aran - fill area in cross section obtained by multiplying <br />pla:rimetered square ind: by map scale. <br />Cut Area - cut arse an Cosa section obtained by multiplying <br />planineter square inch by map scale. <br />Distance - average distance between rose section assured to <br />be area of influence for a given cross section. <br />Volume Cubic <br />Yards - cut ar fill volune obtained by multiplying area <br />times distance divided by 27. <br />Balance - difference between a~ and fill for a specific <br />cross section. A negative balance indiostes fill <br />is rsluired while a positive bslanae indi~tes <br />additional cut material is available. <br />An example calculation is: <br />Map scale: horizontal 1' ~ 20 ft <br />vertical 1' ~ 20 ft <br />Net fill planimztered ~ .61 sq in <br />Distance between sections ~ 137 ft <br />Area ~ .61 sq in x 20 ft/in x 20 ft/in ~ 244 sq ft <br />Volume ~ 244 sq ft x 137 ft/27 cu ft/cu yd ~ 1,238 cu yds <br /> <br />
