Reclamation of the site will then begin. The shop building will be tom down and removed from the site. Any mining
materials stored in the area will also be removed from the site. The area will then be graded to blend in with the
natural topography.
Once grading of the site is completed, the area will be covered with the best available plant growth media as
determined above. The site will then be drill seeded with the rangeland/wildlife seed mixture. In the event the seed
mixture is broadcast seeded, the seeding rate will be doubled. The azea will then be straw mulched with the mulch
applied at the rate of two tons/acre.
Once bond is released from the area, the associated sediment ponds will be graded to blend in with the natural
topography. Topsoil salvaged during the construction of the ponds will be used during the reclamation. The ponds
will then be drill seeded and mulched as described above.
The Utah Tract is an area of reclaimed surface mined spoil overlaying CEC's underground mining operation. The
area was regraded, topsoiled, seeded, and mulched between 1979 and 1983. The post-mining topography of the area
is presented in the Vegetation Map (Map 20) and Structures and Renewable Resources Map (Map25). CEC is
responsible for the revegetation success of the area. In the event any portions of the area require reseeding, they will
be drill seeded with the rangeland/wildlife seed mixture. If broadcast seeding is necessary, the seeding rate will be
double. Any area requiring reseeding will have straw mulch applied at the rate of two (2) tons/acre. The mulch will
be crimped into the reseeded top dressing.
Miscellaneous disturbed areas, which exist on the CEC site will also be reclaimed. These areas include, but are not
limited to; the No. SA powder magazine, various rock dust tanks, various light-duty roads, and drainage and sediment
control ponds and ditches which cannot be reclaimed until revegetation success has been achieved.
All structures and facilities associated with these areas will be removed from the site including all scrap mining
material. The areas will be regraded to the approximate original topography. The best available plant growth media
will be used to cover the regraded areas to approximately 6 to 12 inches. The areas will then be revegetated to the
appropriate land use as shown on the Reclamation Plan Map (Map 29). All areas will be straw mulched at a rate of
two tons/acre.
Multiple Services Building
Reclamation of the Multiple Services Building and 100,000 gallon water storage tank will consist of removing these
facilities from their respective sites. Grading, topsoiling, and seeding are discussed under the SA portal and red rock
crusher sites, which these facilities are located on.
Permanent Roads/Roads
All of the roads, except those shown on Map 29, will be removed upon completion of mining and reclamation
activities. The road surface materials will be graded to blend in with the surround topography, the road ripped,
topsoiled, and seeded with the appropriate seed mixture.
The permanent roads will be reduced in width and the shoulders ripped and seeded. The permanent roads will have a
top width of 20 feet. The road surfacing materials to be pulled in to narrow the road will increase the depth of these
materials, thus improving the permanent road surface. All of the permanent roads will be constructed with the
footprint of a haul road or access road. The current design requirements for these classes of roads will dictate that a
Permit Renewal No. 3 2.05-31 7/15/98
