the adjudication of a plan for augmentation. The components of a plan for augmentation
should include replacement sources in each of these basins. For the Dry Creek basin,
Peabody has leased water from the J.C. Temple Reservoir No. I and J.C. Temple Ditch
No. I. 1n the Sage Creek basin, Peabody will construct Pond Y-I and wi{1 release store]
water to replace out-of-priority depletions during the irrigation season. Peabody has
contracted with the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District for 50.0 acre-feet of
water stored in Stagecoach Reservoir for replacement of Peabody's out-0f-priority
depletions with respect to the Yampa River during the non-irrigation season. Each of
these replacement sources and operation of the plan for augmentation are described in
detail in the following paragrahs.
Dry Creek
Under the lease agreement with Darrell Camilletti, water will be available for
release from J.C. Temple Reservoir No. I to Dry Creek to replace the out-0f-priority
depletions caused by operation of Pond 006. Such replacement water will be delivered
above the point of diversion for the J.C. Temple Ditch No. 2. Also, water will be
released from J.C. Temple Reservoir No. 1 to Dry Creek to compensate for the historical
return flows associated with irrigation of 20.0 acres of alfalfa. The volumes of the
historical consumptive use and historical return flows will be based on the Overage year
condition shown in Table 9. Peabody will have up to 36.1 acre-feet to replace its out-of-
priority depletions caused by Pond 006. In addition, up to 14.0 acre-feet will be released
from J.C. Temple Reservoir No. I to compensate for historical return flows.on the
following schedule: 1.7 acre-feet in May, 4.0 acre-feet in June, 3.0 acre-feet in July,
3.1 acre-feet in August, and 2.2 acre-feet in September. Such replacements will not be
necessary during times when the downstream ditches are being fully satisfied up to the
amounts of their respective decrees. During the non-irrigation season, replacement of
historical return flows to Dry Creek will not be necessary because there are no existing
uses for this water from Dry Creek.
Sage Creek
Pond Y-I wi{I be constructed on a tributary of Sage Creek above the Sage Creek
Reservoir in The NEVe NW'te of Section 19, Township 5 North, Range 87 West as shown in
Plate I. The pond will have a storage capacity of about 3.35 acre-feet and will store
water under a new water storage right. When senior water rights on Sage Creek are
calling, water will be released to Sage Creek to replace the depletion caused by pumping
from Well No. I.
12
