6.3.2 EXHIBIT B -Site Description
The proposed pre-mining and post-mining land use that was indicated on page fow of the
application is pastweland. Amore accwate land use would probably be rangeland. Both
uses incorporate grazing in their respective management plan. However, pastweland
typically implies a higher degree of management including seeding with improved forage
varieties, fertilizing, irrigation, haying, etc. Rangeland typically implies more passive
management with controlled grazing being the primary management tool. It's not really
a big issue, it just seems that rangeland more accwately describes the current and futwe
use and the reclamation requirements for rangeland aze a bit less stringent.
6.3.3 EXHIBIT C -Mining Plan
You have indicated there will be no waste rock disposal, however, from my recent
inspection of the site, it does appeaz there is a considerable amount of waste rock or non-
marketable rock generated. Please identify on the mine plan map where this material will
be stored during mining. Also, how will it be disposed of once mining is completed (ie:
used as backfill by placing against the highwall prior to topsoiling, selling as a secondary
product, etc.)?
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D -Reclamation Plan
Per the comments under Exhibit C about the potential to generate waste rock, please
clarify how this material will be used during reclamation. Also, weed control methods
aze required to be used for all noxious weeds on site. Even though no noxious weeds
were observed at this site, a generic plan to control all noxious weeds should be included
in all permit applications. If a specific noxious weed species appears in the future, the
plan may need to be modified to deal with that particulaz species at that time.
The reclamation costs are still under review at this time. Your estimate appeazs to be well
prepazed, however, the division is required to complete a sepazate bond estimate as well.
Once the question about the waste rock is clarified, this will be completed.
6.3.5 EXHIBIT E -Map
The maps included in the Carrizo Stone North Quarry are actually for the south quarry
(M-2006-024). Please provide a mine plan map and a reclamation plan map for the north
quarry prepazed in accordance with Rule 6.2.1(2). If the road to this site was not pre-
existing or will be substantially upgraded as the result of this mine, it must be included in
the overall affected azea (approximately %z-1 acre). However, if the road was pre-existing
it does not need to be included and in either case, the road may remain after mining if it
compliments the post-mining land use.
