EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN WHIRLWIND MINE <br />PROCEDURE NO. WIN-1 Revision No. New Replaces Procedure: N/A <br />Page: 9 of 11 Revision Date: New Dated: 06/29/07 <br />PHASE 3.0 REMEDIATION <br />A successful resolution to the operations phase of an emergency situation at the surtace facilities of the <br />Whirlwind Mine will be followed by remediation actions designed to both mitigate the adverse effects of the <br />emergency and reduce the potential for a recurrence of a similar situation. Remediation actions consist of <br />clean-up activities at fire and spill locations, and forma( and informal reviews of the emergency and the <br />emergency response plan implementation. <br />3.1 Clean-Up <br />General guidelines for dean-up activities at spill and fire locations are listed below. Specific clean-up <br />guidelines for each material or type of incident are inducted with the field response operational <br />guidelines detailed in Appendix B. <br />3.1.1 Clean-up: General <br />An evaluation for cleanup requirements at any fire or spill site will be performed by the Technical <br />Services Supervisor immediately upon the successful conclusion of field response operations. <br />This evaluation will include the following considerations, at a minimum. <br />. 1) <br />2) <br />3) <br />4) <br />5) <br />6) <br />7) <br />Type of material spilled. <br />Type of material(s) or structures affected by the incident <br />Affected area (physical extent of contamination). <br />Physical configuration of the spill or fire area. <br />Personnel requirements and availability. <br />Equipment requirements and availability. <br />Disposal requirements. <br />Note: Radioactive materials will be promptly retrieved from off-site areas as soon as field <br />response operations are terminated. <br />The Technical Services Supervisor (TSS) wilt be responsible for coordinating cleanup activities <br />in accordance with the post-field operations evaluation. <br />3.2 Review <br />The final stage in any emergency response activity is a complete review of the circumstances leading <br />to the emergency, all response actions taken during the emergency, and post-response remediation <br />BCtIVIfieS. <br />The TSS will coordinate the requisite review and issue a reportto corporate management summarizing <br />the findings, including any necessary corrective actions. The Safety Director shall be responsible for <br />preparing eny requisite reports to the Federal Mina Safety & Health Administration. The TSS will <br />prepare any necessary five or thirty day post-incident reviews far distribution and review to corporate <br />management and all relevant government agencies. <br />ENERGY FUELS RESOURCES HEALTH & SAFETY PROCEDURES <br />
