INTRODUCTION
~~
These calculations are provided in support of a set of draw-
ings entitled, "Orchard Valley Mine, Paonia, Colorado, Rock
Slope Entries." The drawings and their accompanying calcu-
lations have been submitted to the Colorado Mined Land
Reclamation Division in support of Colorado Westmoreland
Inc.'s application for a technical revision to their exist-
ing permit to construct two or three entries in the vicinity
of the existing surface facilities.
Calculations are presented in a sequence which corresponds
with the sequence of sheets which comprise the set of draw-
ings. The calculations presented for each sheet of the
drawings are enumerated on the cover sheet which precedes
each set of calculations.
The following references have been used in developing these
calculations.
1) Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation
Board, 1981.
2) U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service,
1980. Procedures for Determining Peak Flows in
Colorado.
3)
4)
Office of Surface Mining. Surface Water Hydrology and
Sedimentology Manual.
American Iron and Steel Institute. Handbook of Steel
Drainage and Highway Construction Products.
