In order to reduce potential impacts on eagle pop.ulationa and,
in fact. increase eagle usage of the area, the staff recommends
that cottonwood seedlings be randomly plantnd on the entire width
and length of affected land between the lake and the Colorado
River. The eeedliage should be spaced 15 to 20 feet apart and
mulched with wood chips to reduce competition from adjacent vege-
tation and improve soils moisture conditions.
2. Siowxland cottonwod, a variety of seedless cottonwood, ie 6lghly
eueceptabla to a disease called Cytoapora Canker, therefore, the
operator should be certain to select as alternative disease resis!-
ant variety.
3. Cattle and horses must be fenced out of the cottonwood planting
alts to protect the eeedliage.
C. Exhibit G - Water Resources
1.
