Campbell <br />Reclamation Specialist <br />pepartment of Natural Resources <br />Mined Land Reclamation <br />723 Centennial Building <br />1313 Sherman Street <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: <br />Gravel Pit Application <br />Your File #78-287 <br />Signal Peak Ranch Company <br />We have been asked to comment upon the water rights owned by <br />the Signal Peak Ranch Co, and whether the same are available <br />to fill the excavation caused by the removal of gravel from <br />the existing gravel pit on the premises. <br />We have examined the premises and we have compiled a list of <br />the water rights owned by the ranch, and we are familiar <br />with both the water rights owned by the ranch and the water <br />situation as it exists on the premises. <br />During all seasons of the year, the excavation caused by the <br />removal of gravel will be filled with water. This water table <br />will, of course, fluctuate to some degree. During the <br />winter time, the water will freeze, although a small pool <br />may be left under the ice, this depending upon the depth of <br />the excavation. Whether or not fish will remain alive will <br />depend upon the same factor. <br />We do not anticipate that any problem will arise as far as <br />other water rights users are concerned as we do not believe <br />any adverse effect upon such rights will occur. In the <br />event a complaint is made, the Signal Peak Ranch owns more <br />than sufficient rights which can be utilized to alleviate <br />any injury which may take place. It has ample water rights <br />to adopt a plan of augmentation to provide replacement for any <br />stream depletion caused by the above described pool. We <br />have attached a list of the water rights owned by the Signal <br />
