a
a
Implementation and Timetable
Land reclamation work at the Vollmer Pit will begin during
the third year of operations as shown on the mining plan. Dur-
ing the first year, work will be focused on the initiation of

mining operations and no reclamation work is foreseen. In
subsequent years, land reclamation will keep pace with mining
and each phase will be reclaimed after it is mined. Final
reclamation of the site is expected to be completed as of
a the spring of 2003.
Implementation of the reclamation plan is discussed below
in paragraphs keyed to the corresponding sections of Rule 6
of the Mined Land Reclamation Board's Rules and Regulations
of 1978.
6.1 Grading
a
a. Grading will be carried out to create the desired
topography and to assure maximum safe, practicable use
of the resultant landscape. As in previously reclaimed
a areas of the pit, no slopes will be left steeper than
roughly 5:1, except for those occurring naturally along
th
t
f
i
h
i
e wes
ern marg
ns o
t
e operat
on and along the sub-
vertical cuts. No toxic materials exist in the affected
area.
a b. Grading will be continuous and uniform and
will be performed to minimize erosion and siltation.

The characteristics of the soil on the site preclude

0 E4
