Dear Board Member:
The enclosed documents define the issues raised by objectors to the Stone Gravel Pit application.
The application is scheduled for consideration during the February 25-26, 1998 Board meeting.
The Stone Gravel Pit application proposes a Regular 112(c) type permit, 1 58 acres, located
approximately 6 miles southwest of Cortez. Surface rights are federal and managed by the BLM.
However, mineral rights are private and owned by the applicant, Daren Stone.
Enclosed, please find the following documents:
Proposed Pre-Hearing Conference Order;
DMG identification of exhibits for presentation at the hearing;
DMG Rational for Approval Recommendation;
BLM recommendation for approval, with 6 stipulations, and BLM Environmental Analysis;
DMG notice to all parties of receipt of TR to the application, extension of the comment period,
and extension of the hearing, originally scheduled for January 28, 1998;
Identification of exhibits for presentation at the hearing by Mineral Policy Center; and
Identification of witnesses and exhibits for presentation at the hearing by Travis Stills,
attorney for the Bell, Emerson, Morris, Stickman, Trost, and Lowe objecting parties.
