The construction of this pond will require a certain amount of excavation in the
pond area as sufficient capacity could not be obtained otherwise with a low embankment
due to the steep gradient of the Taylor Gulch tributary. Detailed data on the pond is
listed in Tables 7 and 8.
Streeter Gulch Sedimentation Pond
This pond illustrated on Figure 9 is constructed on Streeter Gulch near its mouth.
Its purpose is for sedimentation of the runoff from the Streeter Gulch mine fi II area.
The pond has been checked for conformity with the Board's regulations and with
certain recommended work will comply with the regulations. The recommended work
consists of several items as follows:
1. The principal spillway consisting of a 24" outlet pipe with a 24" riser
needs a flow restrictor in order to provide sufficient detention time for
sedimentation. The recommended flow restrictor is an orifice plate with
a 13" diameter opening which is to be placed over the 24" pipe riser.
• 2. The emergency spillway elevation needs about 2 feet of raising so that
the full useable capacity of the pond can be used for flood detention
for sedimentation, and the emergency spillway is to be riprapped to
be safe against erosion for the spillway design tloaa.
3. A low area of the completed embankment needs to be filled in to bring
all the completed embankment up to the established top elevation.
When these recommendations are carried out, the Streeter Gulch sedimentation pond
will fully comply with the Board's recommendations with a considerable margin of safety.
Detailed data on the pond reflecting these recommendations is listed in Tables 7 and 8.
Gulch A Sedimentation Pond
This pond illustrated on Figure 10 is proposed for construction in the summer of
1982 in order to be ready for collecting drainage from the Section 11 area scheduled for
mining following that date.
8
