. In 1986, coal production ceased and final reclamation operations commenced at the mine. Backfilling, <br />grading and seeding of the entire mine pit area was completed in 1986. <br />r <br />r ~ <br />~J <br />Information concerning the location and status of roads within the permit area can be found in Volume <br />I, Section 2.05.3, Page 76 (pages counted from the beginning of the section) and on Exhibit I of Exhibits, <br />Volume I of the August 1980 permit application. Information regarding sediment control ponds and <br />diversions may be found in Volume I, Section 2.05.3, page 27 of Exhibit K, Exhibitr Volume I and Exhibit of <br />Exhibitr Volume II of the originalpermit appG'cation. <br />2.05.4 Reclamation Plan <br />The goal of the reclamation plan was to restore all affected azeas to approximate original contour (AOC) <br />and pre-uravng vegetative productivity. During the period that the mine was active, reclamation followed <br />the mining operations as closely as practical. Map 2, Reclamation Sequence and Drainage Map (see map <br />pocket in Exhibits) shows the actual reclamation sequence and approximate azeas reclaimed by yeaz. Acreage calculated from August 1987 M-K Reclamation Sequence Map and <br />rounded to nearest whole number <br />Mine reclamation was essentially completed in the Fall of 1986 with the exception of the <br />office/shop/warehouse facilities and other areas on the northwest side of CR 53 which were reclaimed <br />in Fall 1987. Mine reclamation operations basically consisted of pit backfilling, grading and contouring, <br />ripping, topsoil replacement and seeding. rill operations were performed in accordance with MLRD <br />approved plans and designs.
