• -15- EXHI~ D (4 of 4)
The following is an elaboration of some of the previous items discussed for a
reclamation Dlan, plus inclusion of sediment basins to allow for surface and subsurface
operations:
I. Reclamation Plan
A. Fencing
1. Install four-wire, barbed wire fence around the boundary of the proposed
site on the high banks above the streambed.
2. Provide watering access points on both sides of the streambed where
natural slope will not contribute to excess erosion from cattle trailing.
B. Sediment Basin
1. Excavate a minimum of three to four basins to intercept the natural stream
channel at a perpendicular angle.
2. Use the natural stream channel where possible for inlets and outlets on
the basins.
(a) inlet and outlet are on opposite ends of the basins and are channeled
or blended into the natural stream channel.
(b) side slopes will be no less than 2:1.
3. A minimum of 80 to 100 feet shall separate the basins.
4. The first 12 inches of soil in the excavated area will be used to build a
3 to 4 foot hiR_h by 15 to 20 foot wide berm around the basin. Material not
needed for the berm will be removed.
5. The basins will be excavated to a depth of 5 to 8 feet.
(a) side slopes will not be less than 3:1
C. Seeding
1. The berm, after all grading and sha_pinR is completed, will be seeded to the
adapted native grass mixture, along with any disturbed areas between the
basins that are devoid of natural vegetation.
(a) soil will be chiseled on two foot centers, 8 to 12 inches deep on areas
compacted by machinery traffic, lust prior to drilling.
(b) a saline-tolerant willow will be planted around the basin at the base
.if the berm on the inside slope.
