Water Quality Control Act - 7 <br />Title 25, Article 8 <br />(d) The character and uses of the land area bordering the water; <br />(e) The need to protect the quality of the water for human purposes and <br />also for the protection and propagation of wildlife and aquatic life; oz' <br />(f) Type and character of the water, such as surface or subsurface, lake, <br />stream or ditch, volume, flow, depth, stream gradient, temperature, surface area <br />involved, and daily or seasonal variability of any of such characteristics. <br />(3) The pazticulaz class into which any particular segment of state waters <br />is placed shall be determined by regulation. <br />25-5-204. WATIIt QUALITY STAAIDAEiAS. (1) Water quality standards shall be <br />promulgated by the cmmission by regulations which describe water characteristics <br />or the extent of specifically identified pollutants for state waters. <br />(2) Water quality standards may be promulgated with respect to any mea- <br />surable characteristic of water, such as: <br />(a) Toxic substances; <br />(b) Suspended solids, colloids, and combinations of solids with other <br />suspended substances; <br />(c) Bacteria, fecal coliform, fungi, viruses, and other biological constit- <br />• uents and characteristics; <br />(d) Dissolved oxygen, and the extent of oxygen demanding substances; <br />(e) Phosphates, nitrates, and other dissolved nutrients; <br />(f) pH and hydrogen compounds; <br />(g) Chlorine, heavy metals, and other chemical constituents; <br />(h) Salinity, acidity, and alkalinity; <br />(i) Trash, refuse, oil and grease, and other foreign material; <br />(j) Taste, odor, color, and turbidity; <br />(k) Temperature. <br />(3) Water quality standards may be prorm~lgated for use in connection with <br />any one or nnre of the classes of state waters authorized pursuant to section <br />25-8-203 and may be made applicable with respect to any designated portion of <br />state water or to all state waters. <br />25-8-205. ~N'IACH.
