Our proposed type of feeding the reagent into <br />the circuit is in a 108 to 208 dilute solution at a rate of <br />0.06 lbs. per ton of ore. <br />Zanthates are more non-selective than most other reagents, <br />and for that reason we prefer to use other collectors in <br />situations where selective flotation is necessary. <br />B. Copper sulphate and zinc .sulphate, used only in the <br />selective flotation process, will basically be recycled, <br />with addition of make-up quantities to maintain necessary <br />strengths. <br />ITEM #8 <br />Please be aware that the volume of reagents used in <br />flotation milling are minimal amounts. Liquid chemical <br />reagents are introduced usually in a dilute solution at the <br />rate of a few drops per minute, and dry reagents such as <br />lime or soda ash are usually fed in at a rate of a few <br />pounds per hour. All additives to the mixture of water, <br />ground ore and ground gangue material are classed as <br />reagents, but the flow of materials through the milling <br />process is best defined as a slurry. I am assuming that <br />Item #8 is referring to the volume of such slurry and not <br />the quantity of reagents. <br />The containment sump built into the mill is designed to hold <br />slightly over one thousand gallons. This size is more than <br />adequate for our needs since the slurry is contained in some <br />type of enclosure in its flow through the process, and <br />stopping the total flow can be accomplished by closing two <br />water valves and stopping the electric motors. It is likely <br />the main use of the collection sump will be when washing <br />down during clean up operations. Sediment from the sump <br />will be cleaned out as necessary and reintroduced into the <br />circuit. <br />ITEM #9 <br />Many refinements and improvements in flotation reagents have <br />been made in recent years by major manufacturers. One such <br />improvement has been reagents which are more selective, <br />i.e., perform a necessary reaction on specific minerals <br />while inhibiting the same reaction on other specific <br />minerals. <br />Normal flotation procedure is to remove gold, silver, copper <br />and lead minerals first while depressing zinc and pyrite. <br />Pyrite will float readily in an acid circuit and depress <br />fully in an alkaline circuit. Zinc will not respond to <br />
