The analyses of overburden material set
forth at Section 779.14 demonstrate that there are no acid, toxic
or otherwise harmful materials which could cause adverse impacts on
ground water quality. In addition, ground water samples analyzed
for trace constituents contained no detectable amounts of toxic
chemicals; see Table 6, Kerr Mine Area Ground Water Quality Data.
Therefore, no adverse impacts on ground water systems or on pro-
posed postmining land uses from acid, toxic or otherwise harmful
discharges are anticipated.
•
No excavations are proposed for the Kerr Tipple Area.
~II' Section 816.51 Hydrologic balance: Protection of ground water
recharge capacity.
Surface mining activities shall be conducted in a manner that facili-
tates reclamation which will restore approximate poetining recharge
capacity, through restoration of the capability of the reclaimed areas
as a whole, excluding coal processing waste and underground development
waste disposal areas and fills, to transmit water to the ground water
system. The recharge capacity shall be restored to a condition which--
(a) Supports the approved postmining land use;
The ground water systems of the Mine Plan Area and Tipple Area are
described in detail in Section 779.15.
