Section 816.461r1 Continued.
• The design plans and specifications presented in Exhibit 42, Drainage and
Sediment Control Plan, have been certified by registered professional engineers.
Inspection during construction and certification after construction will be
performed by a registered professional engineer.
Isl The entire embankment including the surrounding areas disturbed by construction
shall be stabilized with respect to erosion by a vegetative cover or other means
immediately after the embankment is completed. The active upstream face of the
embankment where water will be impounded may be riprapped or otherwise stabilized.
Areas in which the vegetation is not successful or where rills and gullies develop shall be
repaired and revegetated in accordance v~ith Section 816.106.
Each pond embankment will be stabilized with respect to erosion immediately after
construction by using mulch and establishing a vegetatve cover on the outslopes
and top of the dam and on all areas disturbed by construction. The upstream face
of the embankment will be stabilized against erosion with vegetation, gravel, or by
other means if necessary, as illustrated by Figure 39, Erosion Protection As-Built
for Pond A, D and E. Areas in which the vegetation is not successful or vuhere rills
and gullies develop vsll be repaired and revegetated in accordance with Section
816.106,
It) All ponds, including those not meeting the size or other criteria of 30 CFR 77.216
(a), shall be examined for structural weakness, erosion, and other hazardous conditions,
and reports and modifications shall be made to the regulatory authority, in accordance
with 30 CFR 77.216-3. With the approval of the regulatory authority, dams not meeting
these criteria 130 CFR 77.216 tail shall be examined four times per year.
TR-19 816-59 August 1999
