Exhibit H - Wildlife Information
The operation is expected to have relatively minor impact on wildlife.
Mining has the effect of displacing animals inhabiting and animals foraging
or hunting in the area to be affected. A portion of this impact has
already occurred from the initiation of the aggregate operation currently
present on site. However, it is not expected that many wildlife will be
lost since there is sufficient similac• habitat adjacent to the site to move
into.
The elements of potential wildlife habitat are rated on a basis
according to the amount of vegetation Chat is available to wildlife as food
and cover. The kind and abundance of wildlife that populate an area
depend largely on the amount and distribution of food, cover, and water.
If any one of these elements is missing, inadequate, or inaccessible,
wildlife become scarce or do not inhabit the area.
Except for the area that has been previously disturbed, the vegetation
on the remainder of the area to be affected is relatively diverse and
generally provides good cover, nesting areas, browse and other food
sources. However, other than the existing stock pond that contains some
seasonal water, there are no standing water sources for animals in the
immediate area. This tends to limit the number of species and diversity of
animals likely to utilize the area.
Besides domestic livestock, some of the wildlife species likely to be
transient to or inhabit the site or immediately adjacent areas are given
below. There are no threatened or endangered species known to inhabit or
frequent the actual area to be affected by the operation.
-14-
