. (XSD) Winevada-Splitro complex, 3 to 25 percent slopes - Contd. <br />• Typically the Winevada soils have a very dark gray fine sandy loam upper <br />surface layer about 4 inches thick. The lower surface layer is dark <br />grayish brown sandy clay loam about 24 inches thick over fractured hard <br />sandstone. <br />Permeability of the Winevada soils is moderate. Effective rooting depth <br />ranges from 20 to 40 inches. Available water capacity is low. Surface <br />runoff is slow. Erosion hazard is high from water. <br />Typically the Splitro soils have a very dark grayish brown and dark <br />grayish brown sandy loam surface layer 18 inches thick over fractured <br />hard sandstone. <br />Permeability of the Splitro soils is moderately rapid. Effective root- <br />ing depth ranges from 10 to 20 inches. Available water capacity is very <br />• low. Surface runoff is slow, erosion hazard is moderate from water. <br />• R8F, 25 to 65 percent slopes, is on moderately to very steep mountain <br />sideslopes. <br />(12A) Yampa silt loam, 0 to 6 percent slopes <br />This soil is deep, poorly to somewhat poorly drained, moderately fine <br />textured. They are forming on level to gently sloping terraces in mixed <br />alluvial material from shales, sandstones, and other local materials. <br /> The surface layer is about 9 inches thick. The upper 4 inches is a very <br /> dark gray loam that has a granular structure and is very friable. The <br /> lower part is very dark grayish brown. The B2 horizon is a dark gray <br /> clay loam with suba ngular blocky structure. The substrata is a gray, <br /> very gravelly sandy loam that contains visible secondary calcium carbo- <br />• nate. <br />• <br />
