t•titigation Plan - significant Ponds:
M 1. CWI projects small effects due to subsidence. Substantial protection of
various rights can be afforded with regular monitoring and a quick repair of
subsidence-induced problems. A great many of the significant ponds will not
be undermined but will be protected by underground methods. For those that
are not, CWI proposes quick repair, as shoran in the Subsidence f~pair Hand-
boo}.= Zhe filling of the pond would be through spring flow or CwI would haul
water to fill the pond.
2. CWI designates an alternate pond if a significant pond is affected by subsi-
dence-induced problems. Zhat alternative pond is as designated in Section
II, Summary of Water Resources. Chances of both ponds being affected at the
same time is extremely low, based on existing mine planning and subsequent
pillar extraction.
3. Ponds would refill themselves in spriny-fed cases and CWI would fill the pond
to the pre-mining level, if required.
A7itigation Plan - Significant Springs:
1. CWI projects small effects due to subsidence. Substantial protection of
various water rights can to afforded with regular monitoring and quick repair
of subsidence-induced problems. CWI believes that repair of springs is pos-
sible. The repair would be difficult and the results are not guaranteed, but
sane fl as would be reestablished. For detailed information rn the repair,
refer to the Spring Repair Section of the Subsidence Repair Handbook.
2. If fl avs do not meet the pre-mining condition, C4lI would enlarge the coller
tion facility for the spring. This enlargement would be done with additional
perforated pipe and porous gravels. CWI currently a,~ns the majority of sig-
nificant springs, as shown in Section II-B.
I
