Box 5
Omaha, Nebraska 68101
Re: La Poudre Sand and Gravel, Inc. - File No. 83-90
Dear Mr. Broers:
Per your request of June 21, 1983 to Jim McArdle, this letter is
intended to present the final reclamation plans for the above site
as approved by the Mined Land Reclamation Board on November 17, 1983.
Enclosed are maps for the mining phase and reclamation phase of this
site.
As can be seen on map 2 of 3, the Plant Site is located on the south
side and most of the mining is on the north side of the Cache
La Poudre River. The operator has specified using "... 60" Arch
Pipe by 24 long (culverts) of adequate number to carry the normal
flow". The operator goes on to state, "Are plans and procedures
regarding this crossing will be worked out with the Corps of Engineers.
Other than this river crossing, all mining operations will stay a
minimum 100 feet back from the bank full stage of the Cache La Poudre
River.
Map 3 of 3 depicts the final land configuration once mining and
reclamation are completed. Reclamation will consist of sloping the
pond banks 4h:ly to ten feet below the water level and 2h:ly from
ten feet downward. The bank slopes above water level will be topsoiled
to a depth of six to eight inches and seeded with a seed mixture
recommended by the Snil Conservation Service. The operator proposes
to plant cottonwood trees at approximately 16 trees per acre. The
area will also be planted with a variety of shrub species at four to
six shrubs per clump. The proposed final land use of the area is
"Wildlife habitat/conservation/recreation"-
If you have any questions, feel free to contact this office.
Sincerely,
'r
Peter ~ ~ O'C~ino`-_
Reclamation Specialist
PVOC/ygt
Enclosure
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
