As it was pointed out to Officer Brian Gray, the comments were received
after the Public Comment Period had expired. However, the applicant appears to have addressed most
of the DOW concerns and suggestions. DMG staffhas forwarded a copy of DOW's letter to the
applicant for their review as well. Reclamation calls for establishment of a wetlands fringe around the
lake, which includes cottonwoods, willows and berry producing shrubs along with native grasses. The
plan of operation also isolates pumping from the main lake from the river to control sedimentation and
non-native fish species migration. The operator is also aware of the bald eagle nest site, as it is actually
closer to their current operations. Future fishing opportunities is a matter between the operator,
landowner and DOW, but DMG would support any such post mine access.
Again, Thank you for the constructive comments and please note that the reclamation plans appear to be
consistent with DOW's suggestions.
If you need additional information, please contact me at the Division of Minerals and Geology, Grand
Junction Field Office, 101 South Third Street, Room 301, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501, telephone
no. 970-241-1117
Sincerely,
G.
