Therefore, <br />it is unlikely that cracks will develop on the <br />surface. <br />(3) The weak nature of the clays, mudstones, siltstones <br />and shales present in the Vermejo and Raton forma- <br />tions would tend to seal any cracks that may develop. <br />(4) The hillside drainage channels in question have <br />average grades over 5~ and tend to flow rapidly <br />during storm events. Under these conditions, the <br />majority of the flow would not tend to enter cracks <br />below the stream bed. <br />It is recognized that there is no full guarantee against water <br />inflow, and that the mine will be continually inspected for <br />I• all types of inflow, especially during rainfall events.
