UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICUL~RE

SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE
Mr. Osborne, for Blue Jet Mining Company
Seeding in late fall and around October 10-15 is recommended so that geneination
will occur the following spring. The seeding rates given here ere rates for
drilling snd if the broadcast method Se used the seeding rates should be
doubled.
6. In this particular area I would suggest mulching when tlearea has been
planted. Several good commercial mulches are available and work very well.
If a straw mulch Se used it should be crimped into the ground and put on
at a rate of 3,000 pounds per acre.
Variety Mixture Pounds PLS/Acre
Intermediate wheatgraee Amur 33% 3
Russian wildrve Vinall 33% 6
Western wheatgraes Barton 337. 5
• Total 12 *PLS/Acre
7. The seeding should be protected from livestock, vehicles, etc, until
the plants are well established.
1/ Topsoil Se defined for this purpose as material suitable for growing
plants in. It includes the rather thin layer found on top of the earth
that is highest in organic matter and normally referred to as topsoil
plus the upper portion of the soil underneath this layer referred to e• subsoil.
If we can be of further aeeietance to you, please feel free to call on us.
Sincerely,
~~ ~~~~
Greg Baehor
Soil Conservation Technician
• o
