Box 1458 <br />Glenwood Sprinys, <br />Colorado 81601 <br />B <br />MINING & GEOLOGICAL <br />ENGINEERING <br />OFFICE 303 945-7749 <br />HOME 303 945-5903 <br />IMPACT STATEMENT--BLUE PIT--ZEMLOCK AND SON, INC. <br />The project area is located approximately 12 miles east-north-east <br />of the Town of Carbondale, north of and adjacent to State Highway <br />82. It is located in the south ~ of section 25 and the north z <br />of section 36 township 7 south, range 88 west, 6 PM. The location <br />is described and shown in detail on exhibits one and two attached. <br />The construction of the project will commence immediately upon <br />completion of all permitting by County and State agencies. Upon <br />construction, the sand and gravel mining, processing, storage and <br />marketing on the property will operate on a continueous basis, <br />consistant with allowable weather conditions. Mining and/or <br />processing may be temporarily suspended during extreme winter <br />weather conditions. <br />Normal working hours will be between 7:00 AM and 6:00'PM. It is <br />anticipated that the total employment will vary between 5 and 14 <br />depending upon season and product market..It is anticipated that <br />vehicle round trips` per day for employee transportation and product <br />market trucks will vary between 5 and 60. Access to Highway 82 <br />will be via the access roads shown on the attached e:hibits. <br />Acceleration-deceleration lanes will be provided at the entrance <br />to highway 82 in accordance with requirements of the Colorado <br />Division of Highways. <br />Domestic water supply for employees will be confined to drinking <br />water which will be transported to the project from an approved <br />supply. Toilet facilities will be provided for employees through <br />the use of portable toilets serviced by a contractor. Solid waste <br />generated on the site will be collected in approved containers <br />serviced by a solid waste disposal contractor. <br />Operational water in a non-consumptive capacity will be supplied <br />from the water rights owned by the land owner. These right:; ~~:i11 <br />also be used for irrigation water for revegetation in land <br />reclamation. Additional discussion of water and drainage is <br />contained on exhibit three. <br />The effect of this operation on adjacent land will be mi.nirmized <br />by the topography and the schedule of mining and reclamation as <br />illustrated and discussed on exhibits two and three. Smoke and <br />dust control will be accomodated to by standard practices as <br />required by Federal and State agencies. There will be a substantial <br />increase in vehicular traffic on the access road as a result of <br />this project. 'the effects of this increased traffic will he some- <br />
