• During revegetation success monitoring, the various disturbance
areas will be compazed to the [wo reference areas shown on Exhibit
49. Comparisons may be on an acreage-weighted basis at the
discretion of the Operator. Greasewood zones will be compared to
the 1999 Greasewood reference azea presented in Appendix 10-4.
Shadscale zones will be compazed to the Shadscale reference area
located near the Roadside South Portal. This reference area has
variable slope and aspect so as to serve as a reference area for all of
the reclaimed Shadscales zones.
The separation between Greasewood and Shadscale zones is
primarily related to slope and elevation. These separations were not
marked prior to disturbance for most of the mine site, but generally,
low elevations with little or no slope are Greasewood zones. The
construction of refuse piles covers azeas that were once Greasewood
with slopes and uplands which will be evaluated against the .
• Shadscale reference area. The bottom land along Coal Canyon
below the toe of the refuse piles will be evaluated against the 1999
Greasewood reference area. This will include Cameo Borrow Areas
(CBA) 2, portions of CBA 1 below approximately 4820' elevation,
portions of Roadside North Portals (RSN) areas below
approximately 4810' elevation and areas azound Ponds 6, 10 and 11.
The upper portions of CBA 1, Topsoil Stockpiles 5 and 6 and RSN
will be evaluated against the Shadscale reference azea.
•
14-25 (Rev. 06/11/04)
