SW} SW} T155, R56W, Sec. 10
Name/Type anti Location of hfine (Legal)
Wildlife Soecies list:
Coyote,~Jack Rabbit, Kangaroo Rat, Antelope.
Endangered/critical species/impacted:
None Known.
Critical habitats/vegetative communities impacted:
Prairie short grass ecosystem - blue grama. No overstory vegetation.
Assessment of impact:
Minimal impacts to most wildlife. Direct disturbance to on-site residents.
Mine Reclamation recommendations (include key species habitats for which
restoration is designed).
The Division recommends incremental reclamation of the site so disturbed areas
do not g~~ unreclaimed throughout the life of the project. Perhaps reclamation
on a yearly basis or once one or more acres have been mined would be adequate.
Reclamation should also include fencing cattle out of the newly reseeded areas
to ensur~a establishment of grasses. I recommend seeding with side oats grama,
blue grama, prairie sand seed and vetch. If the gravel mining does uncover
the ground water, then cattle should be fenced out. This will encourage use
by shorebirds and other wildlife.
Prepared By:
Ruth Lewis Carlson
Date: 11-19-87
11-24-87
Submitted By: Bruce Goforth Date:
This statement is void if not processed within 1 year.
This analysis does not constitute approval of application.
