MAY-09-2002 THU 10 00 RM BANKS RND GESSO LLC
PYaY 09 2092 08739 FR WRI~IT WRTER
DRAFT- Memorandum to Tug Martin
May s, aoo2
Page 3
FAX N0. 303 274 8329
39348010@0 TO 3032748329
P. 04
P.04i06
below the established pre-a~iniag conditions aorl it is s}want that the lowetiiag is due to the Nix Pit
and trot other factors (the first part of the taigger), then the propoxd wetland midgation would be
wnducted.
As stated in our April 2002 report, it is WWE's opinion that the water level in the wetland is
controlled by water in the slough. However, so as not to bias nttr obaervtadons, we sld;omnteod
monitoring of water lovers in the wetland instead of the slot~t ere a wore direct irtdieation of the
wetland's hydrology.
Miigatioa Supply
W WE's Apri12002 report identifies two Prinnipal mitigation enppliea These i~achtde groundwater
intercepted m the most upgtadietu pond created during aggregate extraction, and surface avatar
tighm owned by Owens Bros. Contxete. The former supply is rho basis for the long-term mitigation
of the Sage Hitt Farm wetbmd. It is envisioned that this avatar source will be available thmttghout
most of the ®rowiag season (May thmugh October). The second sota~co is owntrship of one share
(or 5 percent) in the Last Chance Ditch. This ditch and its laterals (inchrding the Sido Hill Ditch)
provide surface irrigation to fields is close proximity to the proposed Nix Pit. Information provided
by 8attlte and Gesso, Id,C shows that between 1950 and 2000 rite average diversion For the ditch
was approximately 8,950 arse-foot Per year (AF/yr) Snm late April through the middle of October.
A 5 percent ownership represents approximamly 448 AF/yr of diversions. Assrmtatg a 20 percent
ditch loss, this represents about 360 aa~e-feet of am~ual supply with the majority of this amount
available from May thmugh August.
C:Vob Fan'alt-074aDOdaUandn p7opmedwoymdMmii~lmi.da
