This report concluded that
water levels is rite wetland vary coruidarably and errs affected by irrigation water use is the vicinity.
The report ttscommended that Oweav Bros. Conereu provide water to rho wetland from "Pond 1"
or water right shams it owns in the Last Chance Ditch if monitorng shows reductions in water
levels in rho wetland from its operations.
Proposed Groundwater Moattorlag Plea
The purpose of the monitoring plan is to: 1) oha:aoterize pre~mining groundwaterlevels beneath the
wetland on the Sago Bill Farm and proposed muting yea, and 2) assist in identifying hydrologic
impacts from the proposed operation. Data wllected to data shows significant variation is
grourdwater levels beneatlt the wetland, and a steady deolina in g<uttndwater levels Ilom last fall.
This decline corresponds to a period of relatively low precipitation and the non-iaigation season,
and may be indicative of the natural groundwater regime. However, it also occutsed following
mining and dewateriag at rho Vasa Aggregate Pit north of the proposed Nix Pit. Tt is thvaght that
groundwater will rise in the spring and smratrer with increased precipitstion and the start of the
irrigation season.
It is recommended that groundwater levels continua to be tnonttored in the 19 piezometers and
wells listed is Table 3 of ow April 2002 report. Tn addition, it is raoorrttnemded that six new
pie2ometers (MW-20 thmu~t MW-25) be itutalled et the locations shown on the attached fi~nn.
Groundwater needs to be moruitomi to detemtine, to the extant possible, pro-mming conditions.
Observations at MW-20 through MW-23 will help to better establish fire pre'-miniag water table
wrbnr wanr oroumm.. mF, ~m w, nvewe, ss~. tca0. t>anver, oo e~+t
Ttl. 30aNa61)ee: Fee 303/480.1020, -mptl~hhvabcaom
