• 4.6.1.5.2 ' Description of Horst Possible
Consequence of Subsidence 1f
It Occurred on Structures or
Renewable Resource Lands
This section briefly discusses land use in the permit and adfacent area,
possible subsidence phenomena in the area and presents a description of
the worst possible consequences of subsidence. The description of worst
possible consequences 1s based on an engineering analysis utilizing
available literature sources and conservative estimates of maximum sub-
sidence and angles of draw. The engineering analysis also considers the
specific mining, geologic, hydrologic and surface environments present
in the permit and adjacent area.
•
Lend Use
The dominant land use in the permit and adjacent areas is coal mining.
fairly steep terrain and shallow-depth to bedrock have limited the sur-
face productivity of the tend. Minimal grazing constitutes the only
other existing land use.
Planned mining and subsidence are not expected to have a significant im-
pact on the existing land use in the permit and adjacent area. The post
mining land use is expected to remain the same as the pre-mining land
.~
use.
15
