[~
n
U
Exhibit J -Vegetation Information
The entire azea has been rather heavily grazed by cattle over the years, and the range condition is
somewhat deteriorated. Erosion has occurred over the years, and the amount of available soil for
reclamation has been somewhat diminished.
The following was taken from the "Soil Survey of Fremont County Area, Colorado" obtained
from the local Natural Resources Conservation Office (N.R.C.S.) in Canon City.
The potential plant community on the Itizozo soil is mainly pinyon and juniper and an
understory of sideoats grams, blue grams, and Scribner needlegrass. The potential production of
native understory vegetation on the Rizozo soil is about 200 pounds of air-dry vegetation per
acre. If the condition of the understory deteriorates, blue grams, pricklypear, red threeawn, and
undesirable forbs increase.
The potential plant community on the Nevill soil is mainly blue grams, western wheatgrass,
needleandthread, and prairie junegrass. The average annual production of air-dry vegetation is
about 1200 pounds per acre. If the condition of the range deteriorates, blue grams, pricklypear,
rabbitbrush, and bottlebrush squirreltail increase.
~~,_~
-•~ - _ "QA~~,~
„~3%i i,7
f~~~
pi,..,~,n~ o" R~dzmetion,
iv;~~;ng anG Safey
U
