This temporary <br />seeding should be done at a rate of 15 total pounds PI.S per acre. <br />It is highly recommended that the applicant coordinate weed treatment plan development and <br />implementation with Ron Benda, Vegetation Weed Management Specialist with the Weld County <br />Public Works Department at (970) 356-4000 X 3770 to ensure compliance with the Colorado <br />Noxious Weed Act. <br />Reclamation Re-Vegetation <br />In aeeas to be reclaimed, it is recommended that 12 inches of topsoil be spread in lifts not to <br />exceed 4 inches and worked into the slopes to ensure good adhesion and to minimize soil creep. <br />In order to re-establish normal levels of rnicrobial activity in the soil, compost at the rate of one <br />to two cubic Yazd per 1000 ftZ should be mixed with the soil. If compost is not applied, after <br />topsoil replacement and before grass seeding, the soil should be tested to determine the need for <br />additional fertilizer. Recommended grass seeding dates are from November 1~` through April <br />30m; seeding should be done in unfrozen soil. A good quality grass seed drill with an agitator, <br />depth bands and press wheels is recommended <br />The following native grass seed mix and application rate is recommended for re-vegetation in the <br />soil types found in the mine area. It should <br />be applied at a rate of 4,000 pounds per acre and crimped into the soil to anchor it. Crimping <br />should be cross slope or on the contour, if possible. The State of Colorado has a list of certified <br />weed-free straw available on the intemet or it can be obtained through local county extension <br />service offices. All surface water should be diverted away from the re-vegetated slopes to a <br />point where it can safely flow down slopes without the potential of serious soil erosion <br />
