. POND 007 AS BUILT
Pond 007 is a totally incised pond and is designed to safely handle the runoff and sediment load
from a 10year-24hour and 25year-24hour precipitation event. Pond 007's watershed and the worse
case hydrologic scenario land use is shown in Exhibit 2.05.3(3)-1. As can be seen on Exhibit
2.05.3(3)-1, the watershed includes all of the original Pond 007's watershed plus the adjoining land
tracts of Mr. Garvey, and Mr. Burbridge to the west and Mr. Benson to the northwest. The original
dam, primary spillway, and emergency spillway were retained and used.
WFC has reconstructing 5th Road through the middle of the present Pond 007. 5th Road in turn,
acts like a baffle structure within Pond 007 and creates a longer path for the inflow water to travel
before it exits the pond through the 18 inch weep hole in the primary spillway. A longer flow path
gives any sediment ladden water the necessary time to drop its load before being discharged
through the primary spillway. The water from both sides of 5th Road will be allowed to pass back
and forth from the north side to the south side via Culvert C-113A and C-1136. C-113A and C-
113B will be outlet controlled, 42 and 48 inch by 120 foot CMP respectfully, and were designed
to pass a 25year - 24 hour event. Attachment 2.05.3(3)-1 contains the design of C-113A and C-
113B.
Water quality being discharged to Calamity Draw has met effluent levels set by the Colorado
Departmentof Health in WFC's NPDES permit since finalcnnstruction. The As-Build SEDCAD runs
for the 10year and 25 year - 24 hour events are in the following Attachments to verifies the actual
results. Pond 007 water level will be allowed to rise up to and flow through an 18 inch weep hole
that was created at the base of the primeary outlet riser. This 18 inch weephole is in place and
is incorporated in the SEDCAD model of Pond 007.
As required by the State Engineer, Pond 007 must have the ability to retain 5.45 acre feet of water.
This water will be retained for possible use if the downstream water rights are impacted. If a water
call is issued, WFC will be required to pump this water out of the pond and into Calamity Draw
using a mobile pump system.
• Attachment 2.05.3(3)2- 1
