MINING AND RECLAMATION PLAN January, 1986
MT. GUNNISON N0. 1 'NINE
South Prong Creeksdill be constructed and seal length in these areas is 614
feet and 3.2 feet respectively. Concrete seals will be of tapered plug shape
and the seals will be well keyed into the mine openings.
It should also be n~~ted that the maximum calculated stress on the sFaals is 758
psi and a safety fa~:tor 3 is used in developing the design curves shown in
Exhibit 3.5.2.R3, 4, and 5. The concrete seal with compressive strength of 4000
psi and a stress of 758 psi would yield a safety factor of 5.3. ThEa designed
seals will be able 'to withstand the applied forces with comfortable safety
factors.
As the mine is developed. additional geologic and hydrologic data wiill be
collected and the weal design will be re-evaluated before construction.

3-88
